Manchester United are planning on meeting €40m release clause for a striker wanted by Arsenal as well
As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United are expected to meet €40m release clause of Bologna striker, Joshua Zirkzee, Arsenal also holds an interest in the player. After a solid performance last season, the 23-year-old has garnered interest from several clubs.
The report also states that AC Milan were close to agreeing on a deal for Zirzkee earlier this summer. So, United will have their hands full trying to steal the player away from the Italian giants.
Zirkzee made 37 appearances this season spending all of his minutes as a CF. During his time on the pitch, he recorded 12 goals and seven assists for his team.
His numbers aren’t extraordinary but watching Zirkzee play tells you all you need to know. He works hard, has an eye for the pass and the goal, and can be a solid option for most clubs.
Currently, the 23-year-old is at the EUROs playing for the Netherlands. A deal for Zirkzee will only be made once he’s back from international duty so United have some ways to go still.
If the Red Devils do end up bringing the 23-year-old in, he would provide excellent competition to Rasmus Hojlund. It will also take some pressure off the young Dane’s shoulders.
