Valencia agree personal terms with Mason Greenwood
Manchester United are plotting Mason Greenwood’s sale this summer as they are not keen on prolonging their association with the player after his off-field issues from 2022.
He spent last season on loan with Getafe, where he enjoyed a productive spell having found the back of the net eight times in 33 appearances in La Liga.
Greenwood’s transfer valuation reportedly stands at £40 million with Juventus among those sides linked with a transfer for the English forward in the summer transfer window.
Journalist Nick Semeraro has now reported that Valencia have surprisingly struck an agreement with Greenwood over personal terms but there is a ‘distance in evaluation’ with United.
The amount Los Che offered to the Red Devils is still to be ascertained. However, it is safe to assume that it would be less than the £40 million which United have predetermined for Greenwood’s sale.
Juventus, meanwhile, are not in negotiations with the player and are now likely to prioritise a transfer for another of Manchester United’s outcasts – Jadon Sancho.
Valencia may not offer Greenwood the opportunity to play in the Champions League but they are still a formidable La Liga side where he can continue to build on his Getafe experience.
It is fair to add that Greenwood was well-accepted in Spain despite his problems in England and there is reason for optimism that he can return to his former self in the country’s top-flight.
Man United and Valencia may only see it as a matter of time before they do agree on a transfer fee, as the Premier League giants are fairly keen on parting company for good with the 22-year-old forward.
