Man United’s opening bid for Fermin Lopez rejected by Barcelona
Manchester United are keen on bringing in a central midfielder this summer to partner with Kobbie Mainoo in midfield for the longer term.
Casemiro, whose form has dramatically dipped since leaving Real Madrid for United two summers ago, is expected to be on his way to Saudi Arabia this year.
Fermin Lopez has been the latest name linked with a move to Old Trafford in that light with Spanish outlet Diario Sport claiming that Barcelona have turned down an offer from United worth €30 million for him.
The Blaugrana value the 21-year-old far more highly than the €30 million that the Red Devils were ready to pay at the back of a stellar season in which he scored 11 goals in 42 appearances.
As a deep-lying midfielder, Fermin Lopez has a promising future ahead with the capability to also play as an attacking midfielder and left winger.
The Spaniard’s incredible season saw him net against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu as well, albeit that was in a losing cause.
It is not difficult to justify Manchester United’s interest in a player, who is a terrific carrier of the ball, has an attractive eye for goal and can contribute defensively as well.
Barcelona, however, have no intention of selling Fermin Lopez this summer despite their financial worries and only an irrefutable offer could convince them to break their resolve.
