£65-70m Premier League star 'super keen' on Manchester United transfer, says Romano

Jarrad Branthwaite ‘super keen’ on Man United transfer this summer

Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite has heavily been linked with a transfer away from Everton this summer with a £70 million price tag standing between him and a Goodison Park departure.

The Englishman has already agreed to personal terms with the Red Devils, however, their limited transfer budget is hindering their ability to match Everton’s asking price of £70 million.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Branthwaite is ‘super keen’ on joining Man United during the ongoing transfer window despite the club’s hesitance in matching his exorbitant price tag.

Having said that, it is difficult to think that the player’s desire to leave specifically for Old Trafford could significantly impact Everton’s resolve over his transfer valuation.

The Toffees are under no apparent pressure to raise funds and hold the bargaining power in Jarrad Branthwaite’s solution, which could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Though the 21-year-old’s qualities are undeniable, there is another young English central defender in the Premier League who is outclassing Branthwaite – Marc Guehi.

Branthwaite’s season was not enough to earn him a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad, which speaks volumes about the difference between his and Guehi’s qualities.

In the broader context of things, it is still to be seen how much Manchester United’s budget for a central defender is as they are likely to have their hands tied until they make a number of sales first.

Branthwaite’s transfer is one to watch for, although it is hard to argue against the supposition that Guehi would be a better signing for Erik ten Hag’s side.
