Manchester United could bring in a former La Masia starlet this summer; the former Barcelona man is currently in France.
As reported by The Express, Manchester United have reignited their interest in former Barcelona man, Xavi Simons. The Dutch forward was previously a part of Barca’s La Masia academy before Paris Saint-Germain got their hands on him.
Simons spent all of last season on loan at RB Leipzig. During his time with the German side, he made 43 appearances and spent most of his time playing as a winger even though he’s a natural midfielder.
But Simons was a star on the wings and ended up recording 10 goals and 15 assists for the German side. Manchester United actually came extremely close to signing a deal for the Dutch forward last summer.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Simons rejected them last summer and decided to spend time on loan instead. Now, the team is back trying to sign him to a new deal, however, the player might prefer another loan move.
Whatever ends up happening, Xavi Simons himself will make the final decision. He’s highly rated at FC Barcelona and the Catalan side will be in the market for a forward this summer. There has been some talk linking him to the club, but nothing concrete as of now.
The fact that Barcelona are even being mentioned in the conversation for Simons could be bad luck for Manchester United. Hopefully, the team will show some promptness.
