Former France striker Louis Saha has urged Manchester United to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha this summer, as quoted from an exclusive interview with Betfred.

The 2023-24 campaign was Matheus Cunha’s first full season in England and, regardless of Wolves’ struggles, he managed to score 12 goals and supply seven assists. He was limited to 32 Premier League games due to an injury, yet managed to post impressive numbers for a team that lacked consistency under Gary O’Neil.

Such displays from the Brazil international, including an eye-catching hat-trick against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, have caught the attention of many clubs across Europe. Given Wolves’ dire financial situation, the Metro claims the Midlands club could be tempted to cash in on Matheus Cunha if they receive an offer in the region of £60m in the ongoing transfer window.

And ex-Red Louis Saha feels the Brazilian could be the ‘missing link’ in the Manchester United attack next season.

“Every time I see him play, he’s very creative, very powerful, he can break any line, and that kind of skill he’s got is the missing link that United need,” Saha told Betfred in an exclusive interview.

“He’s a player that’s capable of accelerating the game, whether that’s by him passing the ball or dribbling, and he possesses a lot of quality.

“I would not be surprised and I have no doubts that with some stronger players around him, he can be a terrific player.”

Interestingly, Matheus Cunha has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United, whose desire is to add a striker during this transfer window. With young Rasmus Hojlund firing 16 goals across all competitions in his first year at Old Trafford and given that last season ended with a -1 goal difference, the club’s need to bolster the attacking options has never been more pressing.

Cunha would be a smart option for the Red Devils; experienced, creative, dynamic and versatile with a few years shy from hitting his prime. He can support and take the pressure off Hojlund’s shoulders while providing a different variety to Erik ten Hag’s attack next season.

The ex-Atletico Madrid man is a lot more than pure goalscorer, as evidenced by the number of assists he provided in the Premier League this past season. With players such as Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford around him, Cunha could thrive in Ten Hag’s system at Man United.

That said, we should listen to Saha’s tips and make a cheeky offer for Cunha, who could be tempted by the lure of European football at Old Trafford.
