Manchester United looking to offload Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho this summer
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United are looking to offload both Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho this summer.
Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season in Spain on loan at Getafe after United’s attempt to reintegrate him into the first team failed. He finished the campaign as Getafe’s player of the season.
Sancho, on the other hand, fell out with Erik ten Hag in the first half of this season and spent the first six months away from the first team before returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the second half of the season, playing a key role in their Champions League final run.
Greenwood is being targetted by Serie A side Juventus, who are keen to inject some young blood into their first team for new coach Thiago Motta. Dortmund, on the other hand, are the club being linked the most with a move for Sancho, though whether they manage to get him again or not will depend on the fee United ask for him.
Greenwood’s current £50k-a-week deal at United runs until the end of the 2024/25 season. Sancho, on the other hand, is on £195k per week and has his contract running until the end of the 2025/26 season. (Source: Capology)
United are reportedly hoping to raise around £60 million from the sale of the two Englishmen. This is a crucial point.
Not too long ago, any conversation of ether of these players being valued at less than £100 million on their own would have seen one laughed out of the room; such has been the downfall of two of England’s most promising stars.
Now that United have decided to stick with Ten Hag for the time being, sorting the dressing room out becomes more important, to which end it is absolutely crucial that United move on from Greenwood and Sancho as quickly as possible.
Both Greenwood and Sancho need to be shown the exit door
Greenwood’s downfall at United is frustrating, but in all honesty it’s better than him getting reintegrated into the first team setup; that it almost happened is a stain on both the club and the manager which the two will find hard to move on from, particularly Ten Hag given his other views.
Sancho, on the other hand, is a trickier case. He’s no longer a £73m player, which is the fee United paid for him, but his second stint at Dortmund has shown that there’s still a player in there just waiting to be part of a different environment to start thriving again.
Had United moved on from Ten Hag, one could have made the argument for keeping Sancho at Old Trafford, but with the Dutchman staying, this is almost certainly out of the question.
So now United have a task at hand with these two once-promising stars. It’s a travesty how far things have fallen, but one can only move forward no matter how much one regrets the past.
The new INEOS ownership of the club are keen on making football-wise steps; at least that’s what they have promised. To that end, expensive players have already started being moved on, and many more have to follow.
United don’t have much of a choice when it comes to Greenwood and Sancho: they must sell them. The reported £60m valuation is something United are hoping for but may not get, and even in that case it is crucial that United understand the situation they are in and move these players on, both for their own sake as well as the players’ sake

Manchester United have players to sell this summer. Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho need to be on the top of their list regardless of how much loss they may have to sustain. Even if the Red Devils somehow manage to fail in finding permanent exits for the two players, it is imperative that they at least get them out on a loan deal before the transfer window slams shut.
