Roma make Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka a priority target this summer
Following a challenging initial six months under manager Erik ten Hag, Aaron Wan-Bissaka appeared poised to depart from Manchester United. However, Diogo Dalot’s injury during the Qatar World Cup presented an opportunity for the right-back to step in, which he seized impressively.
Despite initial success, Wan-Bissaka’s on-the-ball difficulties resurfaced in the past season, compounded by recurring injuries. This led to Dalot reclaiming the starting position, leaving Wan-Bissaka sidelined or deployed on the left side of the defense. While his defensive prowess remains noteworthy, Wan-Bissaka’s struggles with ball possession persist, prompting the manager to seek a more attacking option on the flanks.
Despite his perceived technical limitations, the 26-year-old continues to attract interest from clubs like Inter Milan, Galatasaray, Al-Nassr, and his former team. Manchester United opted to activate the one-year extension clause to maintain the right-back’s market value. Although Wan-Bissaka expresses a desire to remain and compete for his spot, United is likely to seek his departure to avoid Financial Fair Play concerns. AS Roma, led by CalcioMercato journalist Maurizio Russo, have entered the fray, with Wan-Bissaka being their top defensive target. Roma plans to offload Zeki Çelik to Galatasaray if they secure the United defender; otherwise, they will retain Çelik.
As far as Wan-Bissaka is concerned, he lost his battle with Diogo Dalot for the right-back slot at United. It may be time to add a younger right-back to the squad. A hot prospect to learn from and push Dalot for a place in the team.

Manchester United should consider letting go of Aaron Wan-Bissaka if his recent performances do not meet the club’s expectations, particularly in terms of his struggles with ball possession. If United can secure a suitable offer that reflects Wan-Bissaka’s market value, they could reinvest the funds in areas of the squad that need strengthening, such as midfield or attacking positions. Additionally, if Wan-Bissaka’s technical weaknesses persist despite coaching and support, United may prioritize acquiring a right-back who offers more attacking threat and versatility. Financially, offloading Wan-Bissaka could help manage the club’s wage bill and ensure compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.
