Manchester United need to decide if they will activate Sofyan Amrabat buyout clause
Manchester United paid £8.5 million to Fiorentina in 2023 to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a year long loan with an option to buy the player for £21.4 million. Amrabat remains optimistic about Manchester United exercising their option to purchase him following the conclusion of his loan stint at Old Trafford last season.
Throughout the season, Sofyan Amrabat featured in 21 Premier League matches, albeit starting only ten of them. Additionally, several of his appearances as a substitute were brief, offering limited playing time on the field.
Despite facing challenges in securing regular playing time, Amrabat remains enthusiastic about extending his journey at Manchester United and has expressed his desire for the club to make his transfer to Old Trafford permanent. Manchester United holds the option to sign the midfielder for £21.4 million.
Reports from Italy indicate that Amrabat prefers to continue his career in the Premier League rather than returning to Serie A next season. Fiorentina is reportedly eager to see the Moroccan midfielder depart this summer, with Galatasaray rumored to be interested in acquiring him. Talks between Galatasaray and the player are expected to commence in July.
Towards the end of the season, Amrabat displayed glimpses of his true potential on the pitch. However, it appears that INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are hesitant about committing to a long-term contract with him. With the confirmation of Ten Hag staying in charge, there might be a possibility for Amrabat to extend his tenure with the team. Morocco manager Walid Regragui previously praised Amrabat as a “world-class” player, further bolstering his credentials.
