Manchester United have been approached by Juventus for Mason Greenwood this summer, Daily Mail has reported, as the English international aims to rebuild his career after years of controversy.

Juventus are plotting a major squad revamp having replaced Massimiliano Allegri with Thiago Motta and have been in discussions for Greenwood after already declaring interest in signing Jadon Sancho as well during the summer.

The Serie A side’s interest is no longer formative with a £40 million proposal already on the cards, however, there is expected to be competition for Juventus from domestic rivals Napoli.

The 2023 Italian champions endured a poor title defence last season and see Greenwood as a solution to their problems.

Greenwood has no future at Old Trafford with Man United already planning his sale and another European league would provide him with a fresh start to regain his feet.

At only 22, the young forward has a long career ahead of him. He recently impressed during a season on loan with La Liga’s midtable side Getafe, for whom he struck 10 goals in 36 La Liga appearances.

It still remains unclear what Greenwood’s asking price has been set at by the Red Devils, but a £40 million transfer fee could be enough in convincing them to sell a player who is

no longer a part of Erik ten Hag’s plans.

Greenwood’s sale will not only help him have the opportunity to kickstart his career from scratch, but it will also prove Manchester United with some vital funds to sponsor a much-needed summer rebuild.

The sales they make, along with the wage expenses that will be freed up, will prove crucial in deciding what transfer activities United are able to undertake this summer.
