Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus have spent some quality years together at Borussia Dortmund
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has taken to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to departing Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus.
Marco Reus, 35, announced that he would be leaving Borussia Dortmund after 12 years and it looks like he has been in talks over a move to the Major Soccer League (MLS) side St. Louis SC. During his career at Dortmund, the Germany international would establish himself as one of the top creative players in European football, scoring 170 goals and supplying 131 assists in 429 appearances.
Jadon Sancho, 24, who first moved to Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 before returning on loan from Manchester United back in January, formed an excellent partnership with Reus in the final third of the pitch.
The duo helped the Yellow and Black reach the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium in May, although it ended in a heartbreak for them and the fans as Real Madrid won the contest 2-0.
With Reus set to leave the Signal Iduna Park, his Dortmund teammate, Sancho has now paid a tribute by posting a reel on his official Instagram account along with a touching message, calling the 35-year-old maestro his ‘big brother’ whilst thanking him for acting as his mentor.
“Farewell to a BVB Legend and My Big Brother @marcinho11 as you start your next chapter,” Sancho wrote on Instagram.
“I just want to say thank you for everything you’ve done for me.
“You took me under your wing and I learned so much from you both on and off the pitch.
“I am forever grateful for everything you taught me and it was an honour to play with you.
“I wish you and your family all the best for the future, see you soon brother!”
Meanwhile, Sancho will return to Manchester United this summer after a successful loan spell at Dortmund. He moved to the Bundesliga club after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. Whose injury-ravaged Man United side finished eighth in the Premier League last season.
The England international showed glimpses of his quality and potential during his five-month loan spell at Westfalenstadion, registering three goals and as many assists in 24 appearances. The 24-year-old may be keen to re-join the Bundesliga side next season as the temporary switch to Germany from England helped him get back his mojo.

As per a report from the BBC, the Red Devils are planning to sell the English winger this summer regardless of whatever decision is taken on Ten Hag’s future and want £40m for the player. Dortmund are keen to re-sign Sancho but only on loan.
As for INEOS, they would like to first resolve Ten Hag’s future at the club before taking a final decision on Sancho.
