Fernandes likely to sign new deal with Manchester United despite exit talk
Manchester United FC are open to discussing a new deal with Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes amid rumors of a potential exit, per Football Insider.
The Red Devils skipper has only a couple of years left on his current contract at Old Trafford, with the club holding an option for a further year.
While his contract runs down at Manchester United, there have been rumors linking the former Sporting Lisbon man to Bayern Munich following Vincent Kompany’s appointment at Allianz Arena. The reports, irrespective of the rumors, suggest that Bruno Fernandes is unlikely to make a surprise move away from Old Trafford this summer.
Last big Payday?
It is believed that the Portuguese midfielder is keen to play under the new ownership, wants to stay at the club, and is likely to sign a new deal at the club.
Bruno turns thirty later this year, and the midfield maestro is aware that this might be his final big contract in Europe. While he is already among the highest-paid players at the club, among the likes of Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, the club is believed to have started negotiations for a new contract with the skipper, despite United having the worst finish of the Premier League campaign.
Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon for a reported fee of £47 million in 2020 and last penned down an extension in 2022. Nevertheless, he has been instrumental in the club’s recent FA Cup triumph after scoring 15 goals and accumulating a further 13 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.
