"So proud"- Manchester United star congratulates his brother on transfer to MK Dons

Harry Maguire celebrates his brother’s latest move on Instagram

Man United centre-back Harry Maguire expressed his jubilation on Instagram as his younger brother earned himself a move to a League Two club.

Laurence Maguire, 27, also a centre-back, was announced as an MK Dons player recently.

Harry reposted the photo from the club’s official Instagram account confirming the signing with some words of his own.

Harry’s moment of happiness arrives shortly after a matter of grave disappointment, as the 31-year-old was recently confirmed to not be making the trip to Germany for UEFA Euro 2024.

Alongside the former United captain, Jack Grealish, James Maddison, Jarrad Branthwaite, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, and James Trafford are the ones culled by England manager Gareth Southgate.

England’s loss is Man United’s gain

Maguire’s absence from the England squad is not down to his performances, which were significantly better in the season gone by, but due to the calf injury he recently sustained.

Southgate has already clarified that Maguire would have missed the group stages. Still, not taking one of his best and most trusted defenders is one of quite a few bold calls the 53-year-old has made in choosing England’s Euros squad.

This is unquestionably a massive blow for Maguire, who may well have played his last international football match. But it’s good news for United.

All players need break, in general, given the hyper-congested football calendar we now have, but few need it more than Maguire, who is now sustaining injuries after playing through medical issues in recent years.

Maguire looked all but set to leave United last year. This is not yet the case this time round. Unless someone comes in with big money, expect him to be part of the Old Trafford dressing room come August.
