Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire sends out a message after being cut from England squad for the EUROs 2024
It has been a difficult season for Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire. This past season he missed 19 games due to injury. Now, he has also been dropped from England’s squad for the EUROs due to a calf injury.
Maguire who is now 31-years-old will be 33 the next time the Three Lions take part in an international tournament. The possibility of him being a top level defender at that time seems to be low.
The English defender has already lost a lot of his pace and things will only continue to get worse. Maguire sent out an emotional message after he was cut from the team. Let’s have a look. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
“Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted”.
Maguire went on to say that being a part of the England team has been absolutely massive for him. He might not be playing for them in the EUROs but Maguire will surely be cheering on his teammates from home. Marcus Rashford who was also dropped from the team will be doing the same.
The English defender added that he will now be under the supervision of MUFC’s medical team. His full focus is now on the next season. Hopefully, this will motivate Maguire to put in more of an effort and be better.
The 31-year-old still has a role to play for the Red Devils and if he can do his job well on defence, it can only open up new avenues to success for Manchester United.
