Manchester United eyeing Gonçalo Inacio move this summer
According to a report from O Jogo, Manchester United are in the race for the services of Sporting CP star Gonçalo Inacio this summer.
The 22-year-old is one of the next generation of stars emerging in Portugal and has been impressing the European giants with his performances for a while.
Under Rúben Amorim, Inácio has already developed into a well-rounded centre-back and played a key role in helping Sporting win the 2023/24 Primeira Liga title.
Valid till 2027, Inácio’s current contract at the Estádio José Alvalade has a €60m release clause, which the Red Devils are reportedly willing to match.
Liverpool are also said to be interested in acquiring the services of the Portugal international, who is set to represent his nation at the upcoming Euros alongside United captain, Bruno Fernandes.
An exciting move, if United can pull it off
€60 million feels apt for the kind of defender who at 22 has already developed into a well-rounded player ready to slot in a top team’s starting XI; in case of United’s starting XI, Inácio would be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Inácio’s current injury history also does not paint a worrying picture, which would be of particular interest to United.
When Liverpool are in for a player, it is usually a good sign that said player would have the right ingredients to succeed at the top. This is absolutely a move United should try beat their Merseyside rivals to, if they can.
