Earlier it was reported by The Guardian that Manchester United would be willing to listen to offers for Bruno Fernandes this summer. The Portuguese midfielder is one of the team’s most important players but the Red Devils are in need of money.

Through a sale for Fernandes, Manchester United could get a decent sum to reinvest into the squad. However, losing Bruno could end up being catastrophic, and keeping him might not be difficult at all.

Fernandes who currently makes £220k-a-week has shed light on what Manchester United needs to do in order to keep him at the club. Let’s have a look at what the Portuguese midfielder said on the topic while speaking to the Players’ Tribune.

“I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream. I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club.”

Fernandes has ambitions to play and compete for the biggest titles in club football. He needs Manchester United to match those ambitions if they wish to keep him. It is also expected that the Portuguese midfielder would also need a wage hike.

He is Manchester United’s best player, but teammates like Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho earn more money than him. Even Casemiro who is expected to leave this summer earns more than the skipper.

So, if the Red Devils can offer Fernandes a better deal than the one he’s currently on, they could guarantee his place at the club for a few more years at least.
