Manchester United have made an initial bid of 51 million pounds to sign Joao Neves from Benfica.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Manchester United have made an initial for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves. The youngster is onme of the rising stars of the Portuguese top flight and has caught the eye of several top sides with his performances.
United have made an offer of 60 million Euros, equivalent to £51 million, for Neves. Neves, considered one of Portugal and Europe’s most promising talents, has been consistently linked with United over the past year.
In February, Benfica midfielder Joao Neves openly acknowledged uncertainty regarding his future at the Portuguese club beyond the conclusion of this summer’s transfer window. United is strongly linked with a move for the 19-year-old midfielder, with reports suggesting they have made a £51 million offer for him.
United is keen on acquiring a new defensive midfielder this summer, especially with uncertainty surrounding Casemiro’s future at the club after a challenging second season in Manchester. Neves, aged 19, has emerged as the top target for this position, and United is eager to secure his services at Old Trafford in the upcoming months.
“Staying at Benfica next year? I can’t promise anything for next season. My wish at the moment is to stay at Benfica and then we will see, you never know.”

The initial offer of 51 million pounds made by the Red Devils has been rejected by Benfica. The Portuguese side has demanded a minimum of 85 million pounds to secure the midfielder’s signature.
