Manchester United are close to signing former Perth Glory teenager
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are expected to offer former Perth Glory teenager, James Overy a ‘scholarship’ deal. It is being reported that the teenager is close to accepting the deal.
The 17-year-old has also garnered interest from other Premier League clubs like Everton, Leicester, and West Ham. However, Overy will most likely become the newest member of the Manchester United academy.
The Red Devils have a reputation of producing some of the best talents in the world. Just this season we’ve seen Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo come out of the academy and dominate in the first team for Manchester United.
It is quite clear that Overy would do much better playing with Manchester United than he was with Perth Glory. The 17-year-old first caught the attention of the world when he appeared for Perth’s senior side at the age of 15.
Ever since then he’s been closely monitored by multiple clubs in England. Overy has the potential to make it to the first team. The club has also made an effort to give more playing time to their youngsters under Erik ten Hag.
This previous season, the Dutchman’s lineup was able to deal with injuries thanks to the emergence of Willy Kambwala, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho. A player of Overy’s quality shouldn’t take long to rise through the ranks.
