Cesc Fabregas lists 3 stars that have declined at Manchester United including Jadon Sancho

Fabregas names stars who flopped at Old Trafford

Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas has spoken critically about Manchester United FC’s underwhelming performances in the recently concluded campaign while also citing a list of players who have stained their career progress by moving to Old Trafford.

There has been this running joke among the neutrals that it takes a Manchester Reds move to ruin a player’s career, with a wide list of examples supporting the notion that transfers to the Red Devils often result in a downturn in performance or reputation for the player. The likes of Angel di Maria, Alexis Sanchez, Harry Maguire, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and even the mighty Cristiano Ronaldo have fallen to United’s curse.

The Barcelona icon has now come up with players on the current roster at Erik ten Hag’s disposal who have besmirched their progress by moving to the English giants and acknowledges that they would have been better suited to being elsewhere. Speaking to the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast, Fabregas namedrops Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Sofyan Amrabat as players who have experienced the deflation to their careers following their Manchester United move.

He goes on to state the examples of the aforementioned three players. Starting with Casemiro, Fabregas compares the Brazilian’s Champions League triumphs with those of Real Madrid and his performances at United. He takes up Sancho to show the current pace of the Manchester City graduate’s performances at Dortmund and at Old Trafford. Finally speaking about Amrabat, Fabregas compares his outings with Morocco at the World Cup with those under ten.

In an interview with the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast, the La Masia graduate said (via. 90min):

“Casemiro won the Champions League after the Champions League at Real Madrid. He was the best defensive midfielder in the world, and then he goes to Manchester United and looks like a completely different player.”

“Look at Sancho. He’s not doing well at United; he goes to Dortmund, and he looks again like the player we all thought he was going to be.”

“Look at the midfielder that impressed for Morocco at the World Cup [Amrabat]. He was fantastic. And then he goes to Manchester United, and he’s not the same player.”

This is a fair understanding by Cesc, as all three players have been underwhelming at United and could move away from Old Trafford this summer.
