United target bargain Branthwaite amidst Everton’s financial woes
Manchester United FC are linked with a move for Everton’s highly acclaimed defender Jarrad Branthwaite, and the officials at Carrington believe that they can lure the Merseyside-based club into a bargain deal owing to the financial problems at Goodison Park.
The money troubles at United mean they want to sign the England international for just £40 million, although Everton values the Englishman for at least the double of the price Manchester Reds are proposing with the 21-year-old looking to represent the three lions in the upcoming European championships.
City’s Gvardiol transfer sets defender benchmark?
The former Carlisle United center-back is a left-footed young English center-half who is tipped to go to the very top.
If Red Devils want to bring the 21-year-old to Old Trafford this summer, they will have to compensate as much as what United paid to acquire Harry Maguire from Leicester City by making him the world’s most expensive defender in 2019 [transfer worth £80 million] and the Goodison Blues value Branthwaite in a similar region.
Everton can also rely on the price that United’s city neighbors and Manchester City paid RB Leipzig for Josko Gvardiol [a transfer worth £77.6 million] a year ago.
Branthwaite is a player of high abilities and is a prospect tagged to go to the very top, and it would be a huge coup for Erik ten Hag (or whomever United replaces the Dutchman with) as the England international has been lauded as ‘magnificent’ by Premier League goal-scoring icon Alan Shearer.
