Celtic to move for Manchester United star Altay Bayındır in the summer
According to Turkish outlet Akşam Gazetesi, Scottish Premiership club Celtic are considering a move for Manchester United Altay Bayındır in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The recently-crowned Scottish champions have recently lost their first-choice goalkeeper, Joe Hart, who decided to retire at the end of this season. And so the Bhoys are the market for a new goalie, and the Turkey international is high on their wishlist.
Bayındır arrived at Old Trafford from Fenerbahçe last year on the back of a £4.3m deal, having signed a four-year deal. However, he has found chances hard to come by due to fellow debutant goalie André Onana and could, therefore, be in favour of a move away from Manchester.
The 26-year-old made just one appearance for United this season, which was in the FA Cup earlier this year as Onana was away with Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Man United won’t say no for the right price
Bayındır was the first-choice goalie for Fenerbahçe, on the back of which he managed to break into the senior Turkey setup. At United, he has had no chance to make a case for himself despite having inherited the #1 shirt left vacant by David de Gea.
At 26, it’s understandable that Bayındır, for the sake of his career, would prefer regular first-team football over a bench-warming gig.
