Man United will struggle in the transfer market says pundit
After a failed campaign, the topic of conversation at Man United is what kind of players they’ll be signing this summer. The team needs improvements at every level of their squad. Their attackers are not clinical enough.
Their midfielders don’t create enough chances and don’t give proper cover to their backline. Last but not least, the team’s defensive line is the place that is in need of the most help. So, the Red Devils need a big summer if they wish to improve upon their recent form.
However, former Red Devil, Gary Pallister believes that Manchester United will have somewhat of a struggle as they try to navigate the transfer market this summer. Let’s have a look at the reasoning he gave behind his statement. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“Manchester United haven’t got the pull of the Champions League and that’s something that does affect recruitment. United are not up there with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City”
Pallister also mentioned that the top players are looking for clubs that are progressing. Obviously, no one would want to stagnate their career by signing to a team that isn’t showing any signs of progress. Unfortunately, for the Red Devils, they haven’t been showing any signs of progress.
They finished 3rd in the Premier League during Erik ten Hag’s first season at the helm. However, he followed it up with the Red Devils’ worst-ever finish in the Premier League this season. If it wasn’t for the FA Cup win over City, the fans would’ve run the Dutchman out of Manchester by this point.
The situation is bad and it might not improve for a long time. So, players might not be open to coming to Old Trafford over institutions like Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool who have consistently shown signs of progress over the years.
