Anthony Martial reacts to Juan Mata’s well wishes on Instagram with Man United exit confirmed
Juan Mata recently became one of many ex-players to wish Anthony Martial well for his next chapter.
The France international confirmed earlier this month that he would leave Old Trafford after nine years, having arrived from Monaco in 2015 as a 19-year-old.
Martial’s former Spanish teammate posted a story of the two on Instagram to wish him well, which the Frenchman reposted on his profile as a story.
Mata, now 36, is himself unsure about his future, having last represented Vissel Kobe out in Japan.
Martial, now 28, leaves Man United having produced 90 goals and 47 assists in 317 appearances across all competitions.
Among other clubs, the Frenchman is being heavily linked to a free move to Serie A champions Inter Milan in the summer.
Mata and Martial two quintessential “what could have been” players
Both Mata and Martial arrived at Old Trafford with significant transfer fees and a lot of expectations.
In the turmoil that has now become expected of the Mancunian club, both of them found it hard to maintain long phases of form, with only little moments of brilliance shining through the long phases of injuries and sub-par outings.
Suffice to say, both of these players fall into the group of many others whose careers would have been remembered with much more awe and fondness had they never arrived at United.
