Mason Mount congratulated by £35m ex-Chelsea teammate after Manchester United FA Cup win vs Man City

Ian Maatsen congratulates Mason Mount after FA Cup triumph

Mason Mount was among the Man United players who picked up an FA Cup winners’ medal on Saturday.

In one of the most surprising encounters of the season, the Red Devils carried out a near-flawless performance as they thwarted Man City on the Wembley pitch to come out 2-1 victorious.

After the game, Mount posted on Instagram a photo with his medal and the FA Cup trophy.

The Netherlands U21 international came through the Chelsea academy like Mount and is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he has had an impressive spell.

The 22-year-old has provided three goals and two assists to the BVB from left-back in 22 appearances across all competitions ever since arriving at Signal Iduna Park in January earlier this year.

Chelsea are reportedly keen on capitalising on Maatsen’s performances and have put a £35m price tag on him for this summer.

Maatsen in line to get some congratulations of his own

Mount may soon get to return Maatsen some felicitations of his own.

The Chelsea loanee is currently gearing up to face Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium in the Champions League final this weekend.

Barring any injuries, both him and United’s own loanee, Jadon Sancho, who have been crucial in Dortmund’s Champions League run this year, are set to feature in the final.

Mount has managed to cap off a struggling debut season with a trophy. Maatsen and Sancho, on the other hand, having been crucial players in their side’s run, may end up doing one better if they go all the way.
