Kieran McKenna has his heart set on Man United job
According to a Football Insider report, Kieran McKenna has his heart set on a return to Man United in the near future and has conveyed as such to his family and friends.
The Northern Irish coach has been in demand recently after impressing at Ipswich Town over the past two seasons, which have seen him guide the Portman Road side to back-to-back promotions.
After sealing promotion to the Premier League, the Tractor Boys have been at risk of losing McKenna to bigger Premier League sides, with Chelsea, Man United, and Brighton having held preliminary talks.
For now, the former Northern Ireland U21 international has decided to sign a long-term contract extension with Ipswich Town and guide them during their first season back in the English topflight.
Big 6 jobs too soon for McKenna right now
McKenna has been earning praises for his performances as Ipswich Town manager, and rightly so.
While at a club like United, given he is aware of the people and environment, McKenna would find adapting easier, but it’s still too soon for him to take the jump of such magnitude right away and preside over a big-name Premier League club with aspirations to finish near the top.
A promising manager, McKenna has decades in front of him and will get these opportunities again in recent future if the recent form of the clubs he’s been linked with is anything to go by.
