Keown calls for United to fix defence and upset City in the FA Cup Final?

Manchester United are set to face city rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final later today, and this could turn out to be a stellar end to Erik ten Hag‘s time at Old Trafford if it ends up being his final bow wearing the Manchester Reds.

The Dutch manager is rumoured to be leaving the prestigious trophy-laden club, although he will have an opportunity to add to the silverware cabinet before bidding adieu to his cubicle in Carrington. However, it would have to be one of the biggest upsets in recent history as they face a four-time Premier League juggernaut, Manchester City.

The former Ajax gaffer will have many options to consider ahead of the game against Manchester City, as they could pull off one of the great upsets that the United faithful can remember for a long time, especially considering their struggles this season.

Ten Hag has Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof at his disposal again, which could be important for United.

You can never ignore the FA Cup magic and the unwavering spirit of Manchester United, and an unlikely win today could be the spark that ignites a new era at Old Trafford.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown picks his picks to not start at the heart of the defence, intending to lead United to victory this weekend.

He acknowledges the defensive problems at Carrington and

insists that the boss should go with a pair of first-team defenders, even if that means they have to bench the 32-year-old Casemiro.

Martin Keown, speaking to talksSPORT (24 May, 12.25pm) ahead of today’s final, said:

“The partnership between two central defenders is key. “

“There is no way that Casemiro should be playing in that position. I would put somebody, anybody, there! Maybe (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka is there,” Keown insists.

“Sort that area in the middle, and then you can build.”
