Erik ten Hag has received a massive triple injury boost ahead of Man United’s upcoming FA Cup final game against Man City. According to Daily Mail, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial, and Victor Lindelöf have returned to training and are likely to at least make the squad that will make the trip to Wembley.

Mount has been missing over the last three games. Martial, on his way out of the club at the end of this season, has not played since December, while Lindelöf suffered a hamstring injury in March and has been missing since.

This is good news for the Dutch manager, who has a lot riding on the Saturday game that officially brings the curtains down to what has otherwise been one of the worst seasons in recent United history.

The Red Devils’ worst league finish since 2013 means winning the FA Cup might not be enough to save Ten Hag’s job.

While Ten Hag himself has been linked to moves elsewhere in recent weeks, other managers are also being linked to the Old Trafford managerial seat, leaving both the club and the manager to end the season with some semblance of good fortune for the sake of their respective paths going forward.

The FA Cup final is also United’s last chance to secure European football for next season.

Good to have options, at last

United have had injury issues all season. Yes, Ten Hag’s tactical choices warrant thorough questioning, but the lack of personnel hasn’t helped his case either.

Putting Mount, Martial, and Lindelöf in the starting XI looks highly unlikely given how little football they have played this season, let alone in recent months. That said, they would make the bench stronger and should be included in the Wembley trip for that reason alone.

This is one last opportunity for these three players to make a mark and silence their critics on the big stage. Mount and Lindelöf need to do this for the sake of their United careers, while Martial needs to ensure he has affluent suitors pursuing him once he becomes a free agent in the summer.
