Manchester United are ready to break the bank for an English striker
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are ready to make a ‘significant’ investment for English striker, Ivan Toney. It is being said that the Red Devils have already submitted a bid of around £60m for the player.
28-year-old Toney is all but done with his stint at Brentford, it is now common knowledge that the striker will be moving on this summer. The Red Devils are one of many top-flight clubs interested in bringing Toney in.
The English striker has made 16 appearances this season recording a total of four goals and one assist. His numbers don’t do justice to his quality though and Toney is a striker out of the very top drawer.
A player like Ivan would go a long way towards boosting United’s attacking line. Moreover, he would be an excellent figure for young Rasmus Hojlund who is in desperate need of some guidance.
Tony himself will become the best striker at United if he signs. He will also help with Hojlund’s development so the Red Devils will have no shortage of attacking options if a deal is made this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also expected to battle the Red Devils for Toney. So, the team will need to move fast if they wish to avoid an unnecessary bidding war for the 28-year-old.
