Manchester United could have to give a pay raise to an already expensive star
As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United could have to hand a new deal to Bruno Fernandes if they wish to keep him at the club. The Portuguese skipper is currently on a £250,000 per week salary at United.
There have been reports suggesting that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are looking at signing Bruno Fernandes this summer. Following the poor season the team has had, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the midfielder seek a new challenge.
However, the Red Devils can’t afford to lose Fernandes. The team looks completely different with him on the floor and his impact just can’t be overstated. The Portuguese midfielder is the single most important member of United’s lineup.
Saudi will throw a ton of money towards Fernandes so the Red Devils will have to do him one better. Bruno has made 46 appearances this season, recording a total of 15 goals and 12 assists.
He leads the team in goals scored as well as assists. If you take Fernandes off this Man United squad they might not even finish in the top fifteen. So, it’s clear that the team needs to do everything they can to retain the 29-year-old.
If a salary bump is all it takes then the Red Devils should be able to keep Fernandes at United. With Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial set to leave this summer, the team’s wage bill will go down significantly, so a raise for Fernandes is economically feasible as well.
