Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney makes his pick for who shouldn’t be sold this summer.
Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney is not too happy with this team and believes a massive clear-out is needed at the club. A lot of the players haven’t played up to the United standard this season.
A lot of them are old and some don’t seem to enjoy playing for the badge. The team is in desperate need of some fresh legs to liven things up on the field. The Red Devils could say goodbye to a lot of their players this summer.
But there is one Manchester United player who Wayne Rooney believes shouldn’t be sold at any cost this summer. Let’s have a look at what he had to say as he made his pick for the summer. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“You have to build the team around Bruno [Fernandes],”
“He’s the one player with quality, he has got fight in him. I think the young players and then… all the other players get rid of them.
“I think you keep the young players, you keep Bruno and I think it has to be a massive clear out. It has to be.
Rooney also suggested that doing a massive clear-out would be difficult over one season. So, the team could continue to sell players off and bring in new faces well into the next two seasons.
He also says that apart from Bruno Fernandes and the young players, everyone else on the team is open season. Manchester United plays like a different team when the Portuguese midfielder is on the floor.
His leading a team consisting of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo and a new set of players does seem to have some potential. Regardless of what United plans, Fernandes should remain untouchable this summer.
