Tom Heaton is open to staying at Manchester United beyond the summer
According to the Manchester Evening News, Tom Heaton would be open to continue at Manchester United.
The 38-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the ongoing season. Despite having made no appearances this season, the current United third-choice goalie would be willing to accept a new contract should the Red Devils offer him one in the summer.
The former England international came through the ranks at United before making his name elsewhere, particularly at Burnley which led to his international call-ups. He returned to United in 2021.
Heaton is also said to have been considering a career in coaching after his playing days are over, but he’s not looking to retire at least next season.
Retaining Heaton not a difficult call to make
Amidst all the upheaval Man United are undergoing and are about to further undergo in the summer, retaining Tom Heaton for at least another year feels like a relatively easy decision to make.
Not only is Heaton a veteran of the game, he is also a United academy graduate and thus makes for a crucial presence in the dressing room.
