Former Man United player Anthony Elanga surprised over Bruno Fernandes’ long-range screamer during win over Sheffield United
Manchester United academy graduate and Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga was quick to express his disbelief over Bruno Fernandes‘ screamer against Sheffield United from last night.
The Red Devils’ skipper’s long-range striker was his second on the night to put his side 3-2 ahead. His team ended the match 4-2 as he also assisted Rasmus Højlund’s 85th-minute goal.
Fernandes’ perfunctory social media post after the game received a comment from his former teammate, who apparently did not know the Portugal international could pull off such shots from his weaker foot as well.
Fernandes’ brace and an assist earned him a man-of-the-match 9.5 rating from FotMob.
Fernandes is not praised enough
Bruno Fernandes is not a perfect footballer; few are.
For all his shortcomings, though, he is one of those players who can deliver even in setups not built for his strengths, as has been often the case under Erik ten Hag.

Regardless of United’s fortunes, with or without the captain’s armband, Fernandes has proven to be one of those players capable of notching up numbers season in, season out. And as much as he is appreciated right now, he will only truly be appreciated in retrospect when he leaves United for good.
