Manchester United could miss out on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise amid failure to secure the Champions League spot
Failure to secure a Champions League spot could lead to Manchester United missing out on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. Premier League rival Chelsea also shows interest in Olise but faces the challenge of missing out on securing a Champions League spot.
Standing at 1.84 metres, Olise has a physical presence in the right wing of Palace where he prefers to operate. The 22-year-old has the agility and mobility to glide past the opposition’s defence and create chances from the threatening areas.
He also possesses the technical quality, composure and precise shooting to provide accurate passes and act as a goalscoring threat. The 22-year-old prefers to drop into the spaces between the midfield and the defence, operating as a right inside forward.
Olise’s preferred foot is his left foot which allows him to cut inside and shoot from the right. However, his dribbling skills and movement are unpredictable as he can go in either direction and be as threatening.
The France U21 was born in London and comes within the homegrown quota, a bonus for the Premier League clubs. Olise has enjoyed a steep rise in his reputation, displaying immense skills and consistent performances in the Palace’s attack department.
According to GIVEMESPORT (h/t Fichajes), United and Chelsea want Olise but he prefers to play in the Champions League. The 22-year-old has a £60 million release clause which makes him affordable for the Red Devils.
The release clause is also a justified price for a player of his quality in this inflated transfer market. United have Antony and Alejandro Garnacho who have operated regularly at the right flank for the team this season.
Antony has failed to live up to his massive price tag so far, producing good performances in bits and pieces. Furthermore, he has barely added goals and assists for the Red Devils in all competitions this season.

Olise fits the profile that United should be targeting and his only drawback is the recurring injuries that have plagued him. If Manchester United can somehow lure him despite the absence of Champions League football, the 22-year-old could be a potential coup for them.
