Manchester United legend is not happy about Erik ten Hag’s style of football
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has found himself under fire for a majority of the 2023/24 season. The Dutchman is in the middle of his second year at the helm of United. However, the team still doesn’t have an identity.
Legend of the club, Rio Ferdinand recently ripped into Erik ten Hag while speaking on the Vibe with Five podcast. He had some serious issues with the Dutchman’s style of play. Let’s have a look at what he had to say about the situation.
“I said yesterday [Sunday] after the game if kamikaze, open sesame, no control of the game football is what we’re looking for, he has it nailed on and is doing a great job at it because that’s what we’re playing.
Ferdinand even gave him the benefit of the doubt by mentioning that Ten Hag has been dealing with a lot of injuries this season. However, he did mention that other teams struggle with injuries as well and they should not rob you of your style of play.
The club legend stated that whatever ‘kamikaze chaos football’ Man United is currently playing cannot be Erik ten Hag’s style of football. But, two years have passed and it is time to start asking different questions.
Does the Dutchman even have a style of football? Because if he does, we must’ve seen at least a glimpse of it over the past two seasons. What Erik ten Hag does seem to have is sheer luck.
This is highlighted by his overachieving maiden season. However, luck has run out and the team is now struggling to even qualify for the UCL.
