Kobbie Mainoo was once again Manchester United’s hero tonight as he helped the team take the lead over Liverpool. Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a mistake by Jarell Quansah and levelled the score for the Red Devils.

18-year-old Mainoo then proceeded to turn around in the Liverpool box and score an absolute banger to give his team the lead. A poetic goal as the English midfielder went on to reveal what Erik ten Hag said at half-time to turn the game around for Manchester United. Let’s have a look. (h/t BBC)

“He said get ourselves back into the game, there was some positives but we were behind in this type of fixtures it is going to be tough to take.”

He added that Mainoo and the team were asked to look for weaknesses. Ten Hag seems to believe that there is always something to exploit against big teams. The Dutchman seems to know exactly what that weakness is in Jurgen Klopp’s defence.

Not once this season has Erik ten Hag lost a game against Liverpool. They came pretty close tonight but a solid second-half performance was all they needed. Props also have to be given to Andre Onana who was stellar tonight.

He might’ve conceded two but if he hadn’t been making some marvelous saves, Manchester United would’ve lost this game by a big margin. The Red Devils were truly lucky to get away with a point.

However, it should be noted that Erik ten Hag’s side has shown great character over the past two games. They came back down 2-0 against Chelsea and from 1-0 against Liverpool tonight. Even though neither result went their way the team is finally starting to shoot back.

If Manchester United can build on this goal-scoring momentum they might be able to surprise a few people during the last few weeks of the season.
