Erik ten Hag claims Manchester United forced Mason Mount to leave Chelsea
Manchester United midfielder, Mason Mount finally scored his first goal for the team this past week. The 25-year-old struck late in stoppage time to put his team ahead of Brentford. However, the Bees ruined his party and grabbed an equaliser in the final moments of the match.
Mount is off to a slow start at Old Trafford, but Erik ten Hag fully backs the player. He also believes that Chelsea will come to realise what they’re missing and didn’t even wish to sell the midfielder in the first place. Let’s have a look (h/t Manchester United)
“I don’t think they wanted to sell him,”
“They wanted to keep him and they even offered him a new contract many times.”
Ten Hag added that Mount wanted to take the next ‘step’ despite interest from Chelsea. The Dutchman is very happy about the 25-year-old’s arrival and believes he will go on to be a huge success at Old Trafford.
Mount will be visiting his old team tonight as Manchester United gear up to take on Chelsea. During his time with the Blues, the English midfielder made 195 appearances recording 33 goals and 37 assists.
Mount will surely be subjected to a lot of whistiling and taunts from the fans as he prepares for his return to Stamford Bridge. People expect him to be the difference maker and now that he has finally grabbed his first goal, the sky is the limit for the 25-year-old.
If Mason Mount performs anywhere close to what he’s capable of he’ll be able to show Chelsea just how much quality they missed out on.
