Manchester United have stolen a key Southampton member for their backroom ahead of the 2024-25 season.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have stolen Jason Wilcox away from Southampton. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team have long been looking to bolster their backroom at Old Trafford.
Now, Wilcox is the latest of the new changes. The team signed Omar Berrada to be their CEO a few months ago. All signs indicate that Dan Ashworth will also be heading for Old Trafford shortly.
With Jason Wilcox already having handed in his resignation to Southampton, it’s only a matter of time before Manchester United make the news of him becoming their technical director official. The team has found an important piece to kick off a new era for the Red Devils.
Like the team’s CEO, Wilcox is also a former Manchester City man himself. The 53-year-old resigned after serving as director for the Blues’ academy back in 2023. United fans have long been waiting for this moment.
For the longest time, they have seen their team function without the proper backroom staff. Something that is unacceptable for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s arrival has put a swift end to the team’s backroom deficiency.
A lot of fans hope that the INEOS chief will be able to lead them back to their glory days. However, the road ahead is long and Manchester United still have a lot of work to do.
