Manchester United and Man City to butt heads for signature of Bundesliga star

As reported by The Sun, Manchester United will be battling it out with Man City over the signature of Bundesliga star, Jeremie Frimpong. The 23-year-old has been on fire for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

In 34 appearances, Frimpong has recorded 11 goals and 11 assists for his team. Which is a lot more than the contributions made by the Red Devils’ star player, Marcus Rashford.

The Old Trafford hierarchy believes the 23-year-old’s £40m and age are the perfect fit for the kind of future they’re planning for the club. Like Shaw is an excellent player but his injury issues have started to get concerning, Frimpong would be an excellent replacement for him.

Manchester United have a golden opportunity and need to make haste. Their local rivals, Man City will not be making it easy for them. It is being reported that the Blues thing Frimpong would be an excellent replacement for Kyle Walker.

If the two teams don’t try and pounce on him this summer they might have to pay a ridiculous amount in the future. Frimpong’s release clause is a one-off, so it cannot be activated next year.

The 23-year-old’s contract runs till 2028, so signing him without an affordable release clause will be difficult. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team seem to be looking at the right targets. However, it will all be for nothing if they fail to reach deals with these talents they’re eyeing.
