Gary Neville rips into Manchester United for their ‘horrible’ display against Brentford
Former Manchester United skipped, Gary Neville was left speechless after watching the ‘horrible’ display his team put up against Brentford. Let’s have a look at what the former Red Devils had to say on his own podcast. (h/t Sky Sports)
“I watched Man Utd at Brentford and like everyone else, I couldn’t believe what I was watching,”
“It just wasn’t very good and there are worrying signs that you can get to that level of low in their performance.”
Neville added that their win against Liverpool right before the international break should’ve given the team more intensity, but much to his disappointment, the Red Devils hit a low that he could not put into words.
One key part that Neville felt the need to highlight was how poor Erik ten Hag’s team is without the ball. He says that the players just don’t have any fight in them when they get stripped. Which is not something we see from other teams at this level.
The Manchester City vs Arsenal game is a perfect example of how the team needs to play as a cohesive unit without the ball as well. Erik ten Hag should take notes from his rivals and try to instil that mentality into his team.
Thanks to their poor performance, Manchester United are now 11 points behind the top four. Moreover, the kind of football they played last night has robbed a lot of people of their UCL hopes for next season.
Every game after the international break was supposed to be a final for the Red Devils. However, they fumbled the very first game and that just might have been a glimpse of what we’ll see over the coming weeks.
