A glint of hope in the Red of Manchester for Mason Mount
Mason Mount scored his first Premier League goal wearing the infamous Manchester Reds yesterday in United’s 1-1 draw against Brentford.
The Red Devils signed Mason Mount in an initial £55 million deal, with another five in add-ons. The move brought an end to his eighteen-year association with Chelsea.
While it was looked upon as a highly anticipated transfer, the expectations from the 25-year-old were sky high at Old Trafford. Although, on the contrary, Mason Mount has struggled to find his feet in his new home, and consistent injuries haven’t made it easier.
Hindered by injuries, the former Chelsea midfielder has missed 27 games owing to injuries, the latest owing to a calf problem.
When he did play, he looked all over the place. Though redemption is just around the corner for England’s golden boy, he shared a moment that could be a boost for his United career.
Declan Rice buzzing for his childhood friend
Mason Mount took to social media to celebrate his goal with the caption, “Mixed feelings, but I’m proud to celebrate my first goal for this club! We’ll continue to work on finishing the season on a high. Thank you for all the support.”
While he expressed his disappointment, there is ample reason to celebrate, as this could be the start of his purple patch with his new employer’s. While Manchester United faithful rejoice in Mount finally finding the next, Arsenal star midfielder who recently wore the armband for England also took to comments to acknowledge the 25-year-old’s antics against Brentford.
Mason Mount childhood friend Declan Rice commented on the post, writing, “Buzzing for you bro,” with a red heart emoji.
Rice and Mount are close-knit friends, and it is a breath of fresh air to see these players from rival teams rejoicing in one another’s success in this dog-eat-dog world of professional football.
