Insane stat shows how poor the defence of Man United have been this season.
Manchester United were lucky to get away with one point during their game against Brentford last night. The Bees dominated most of the game firing a total of 31 shots at United’s goal. The Red Devils on the other hand only got off 11.
A single stat that shows how poor Erik ten Hag’s defence was last night. It wasn’t just yesterday either, a new stat highlights that Man United have been poor on defence for pretty much the entire season.
Squawka revealed that the Dutchman’s side has faced more shots than Man City and Arsenal combined. United have faced a total of 498 shots throughout Erik ten Hag’s second campaign.
There are only three teams who have faced more shots than United. Sheffield United, Luton Town and West Ham United. The top two teams are actually in the relegation zone. Surely, not a good look for Erik ten Hag.
While this stat shows how poor Manchester United’s defence has been it also shows that their attack has not been as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, the Red Devils don’t score a lot of goals and their stars have been struggling.
Marcus Rashford is still sitting at eight goals scored despite making 36 appearances. However, the attack does enough to get them by and it is actually their defence that has let them down this season.
