Manchester United firm up Gleison Bremer interest
Manchester United are firming up interest in Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer in the summer, according to Calciomercato.it, as the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle have expressed interest in the Brazilian alongside the Red Devils.
There are set to be new faces incoming at Carrington post-summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos target a massive overhaul in the off-season. If reports across rumour mills are to be believed, Manchester United are set to bring in at least a new left-back and a central defender in the summer.
Gleison Bremer recently extended his contract with Juventus until 2028, and his contract is believed to have a release clause “in excess of £50 million,” which Manchester United are actively pursuing to meet. A deal to bring the Brazilian defender to Old Trafford could be straightforward, provided the personal terms are agreed.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, United are willing to bust a gut to sign the 27-year-old by activating the buy-out clause in his contract with Juventus.
The former Torino defender has been one of the best centre-back in the Italian top-tier for a while now, and a Premier League move seems to be on the cards.
Manchester United’s need for a new defender
The Reds from Manchester have had a bit of a defensive revamp this summer, with the likes of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans expected to leave the club bar any late change of hearts. Both players run out of their current contracts at Old Trafford in the summer.
