Manchester United have their sights set on a Serie A defender
As reported by the Italian publication, Tutto Sport Manchester United have now turned their gaze towards 23-year-old fullback, Raoul Bellanova. The Italian defender is currently playing in Serie A for Torino F.C
Bellanova has made 30 appearances this season, recording one goal and five assists for the Italian side. It is being reported that the Red Devils are working on replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the 23-year-old.
Aaron is a solid player but his unavailability due to injuries throws doubt on his future. Moreover, talks suggest that Man United could use him in a swap deal to land their long-time target, Michael Olise.
Bellanova is usually deployed as an RB, however, Man United already have Diogo Dalot occupying that role. It could be that the Old Trafford team decides to play one of the players a little further up the pitch.
Both defenders don’t function as traditional fullbacks and have more of an attacking mindset. This would leave Erik ten Hag with some solid options if he ever finds himself in a pinch for attack power.
However, Raoul’s contract runs till 2027 so the Red Devils will likely have to pay a decent amount for his services. Bellanova has the potential to improve a lot and could be one for the future.
