Harry Maguire and another defender are expected to leave Manchester United this summer.
As reported by ESPN, Manchester United could be open to selling both Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane this summer. Both defenders have now approached the wrong side of 30 and could be on their way out.
32-year-old Maguire only has one season remaining on his deal. The Red Devils don’t want a repeat of David De Gea who left as a free agent, so the team is expected to move the English defender this summer.
On the other hand, Raphael Varane’s contract is expiring at the end of the summer. There has been no talk of a new deal for quite some time. So, currently, all signs point towards an exit for the Frenchman.
This will come as a shock to many since Varane is one of Manchester United’s best defenders. However, the star is now 30 years old and has lost a bit of quality from his glory days.
Moreover. Varane is one of the highest-paid players at Old Trafford which could also be an issue for the new owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS. Unfortunately, the Frenchman will likely be leaving as a free agent.
On the other hand, Manchester United are now being linked to Gleison Bremer. The team has also been linked to Atalanta BC’s star defender, Giorgio Scalvini.
