Lisandro Martinez makes his way back home, could take part for United soon
Manchester United are about to receive a major injury boost as Lisandro Martinez is reportedly heading back to England from his camp in Argentina, per Daily Mail.
Lisandro Martinez was called up to Argentina’s international camp by Lionel Scaloni for March friendlies against El Salvador and Costa Rica despite his injury concerns. The 26-year-old has been sidelines with injury for six weeks now, but as per the report by Daily Mail, he has trained with the Argentine squad this week. He has returned home in a bid to prepare for the Brentford clash on March 30.
Massive injury boost if Licha were to return to full-fitness
Lisandro Martinez has been having an agitating 2023/24 campaign with consistent time on the sidelines owing to injuries. He has missed an aggregate of 32 games for the Red Devils this season.
Erik ten Hag has been forced to play a frail and shaky defence at times because of multiple injury concerns this season and has duly missed the 26-year-old’s services.
He has the capacity to change the initial build-up phase with his ball-playing abilities and Erik ten Hag would hope his return would change fortunes for the club as they strive for a final top-four push complemented by eyeing FA Cup silverware.
Lisandro is expected to step up his training schedule over the next week at Manchester United’s training base. Visiting his international teammates and taking part in training with them would have been a wonderful change of scenery for Martinez and could be crucial from a confidence point of view as he returns from injury.
