Murillo Santiago Costa dos Santos considered by Manchester United
Manchester United are battling out for Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo Santiago Costa dos Santos, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are in dire need of a new defender as they look to revamp the roster, and a new defender is seemingly on the cards. The expected departure of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans, with their contracts expiring with the season, complemented by Saudi rumours for Victor Lindelof, means the United faithful could expect at least one new face at the heart of defence at Carrington this summer.
Manchester United are dipping into league experience with Murillo, who is also a potential target for PSG and Barcelona. Alongside the aforementioned trio, the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Arsenal are also linked with the 21-year-old, per Mundo Deportivo.
Pressing Nottingham into selling Murillo
Nottingham Forest are under massive pressure to offload significant players in the summer after violating profit and sustainability rules. They will want to capitalize on financially improving their books as much as they can by selling Murillo.
With all the clubs making noise to land Murillo, the Brazilian will want to improve and make a name for himself, backing the skillset he possesses. This makes it ideal for the club to sell and for the player to move on.
According to The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are looking for a fee ‘in excess’ of £50 million. The Midlands-based club only paid £11 million to sign Murillo from Corinthians.
He has been integral to Nottingham Forest’s defence this season, having played 27 games in all competitions.

Manchester United have to ensure that they don’t spend an astronomical amount on players that don’t push the ceiling of the squad. Murillo is a player who is still raw in multiple facets of the game, but he can be a presence for the next decade if his development is handled in the right way.
