Manchester United scouts monitoring Atalanta midfielder Ederson
High hopes were simmering through the veins of the Red Devils when Casemiro pulled up wearing the United badge, albeit things have not come as Man United faithful would have wanted and it looks like his time at Old Trafford has run its course.
According to a report by Daily Mail, the Reds from Manchester consigned scouts to the Allianz Stadium last weekend in the Atalanta and Juventus fixture that ended 2-2 with Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners finding the net twice for Atalanta. Although it was not Teun Koopmeiners that the United scouts were looking at, it was his teammate, Ederson.
Newcastle United were interested in bringing the 24-year-old to St. James Park in January although any transfer for the Brazilian failed to materialize.
This will not be the first time that Erik ten Hag & Co. will be dealing with Atalanta as they signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a £72 million fee last summer whereas winger Amad Diallo also had a brief time at the Italian club before his move to Old Trafford in 2020-21 season.
This is Ederson’s second season at Atalanta following his transfer from Salernitana in January 2022.
The 24-year-old operates as a defensive midfielder and boasts 35 appearances for La Dea this season, scoring six goals, five of which came in the League, while having a solitary assist.

If any deal were to find a conclusion for Ederson, it might spell an end to his countryman Casemiro who has a contract with the club till 2026 but has found it difficult to replicate his Spanish form in England.
Alongside Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat is also scheduled to move back to Fiorentina following the cumulation of his loan spell at Old Trafford while Eriksen is also linked with a move away from United.
