Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana believes that now he is “better” and “very happy” to start delivering on the expectations
Andre Onana stated that he is feeling very happy and ready to live up to the Manchester United fans’ expectations. The Cameroon international has suffered a horrible start to his United career since joining the club in the summer.
Onana arrived at Man United with huge expectations after helping Inter Milan reach the Champions League finals last season. He succeeded the Red Devils’ legend David De Gea to become the number one goalkeeper at the club.
Having played under current manager Erik ten Hag before, the 27-year-old joined with huge hype and expectations. Ten Hag signed him due to Onana’s ability to distribute passes and build the play from the backline with comfort.
However, United have conceded 57 goals in all competitions when Onana played, making 38 appearances this season. He managed to keep only 12 clean sheets in all competitions as his struggle with form continued.
Speaking about his situation (h/t Fabrizio Romano’s X account), Onana conveyed that he is very happy and ready to deliver. He said:
“Now I’m better and I’m very happy. You will see much more from me, trust me. Hopefully, in the coming years, we’ll fight for big things. And hopefully, we get top four this season because it’s very important”.
Onana received heavy criticism for making numerous critical errors this season which cost United many games. His error-prone form caused the Red Devils to exit the Champions League competition even before the knockout stages. United finished last in the competition and suffered a humiliating early exit as Onana’s mistake garnered heavy attention.
