Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says there were players at the club who opted against pre-match interviews
Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shed some light on his days at Old Trafford. The Norwegian manager was at the club from 2018 to 2021. He was promptly sacked for his failures and replaced with Erik ten Hag.
Unfortunately for Gunnar, he failed to win any trophies during his time with the club. However, he did recall his days at the club and the Norwegian did not seem to be happy with the behavior of his ‘Gen Z’ players.
Solskjaer even called them ‘petty’ while speaking on Stick to Football. There was a lot more that Gunnar had to say, let’s have a look. (h/t The Guardian)
“Many players said no to doing the pre-match interviews, the three questions,”
“The others were worried about the questions, so preferred not to do it. You’re scared of the whole reaction maybe”
Gunnar added that he had a few go-to’s who were always ready to go to the pre-game interviews. Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, David de Gea, and Luke Shaw were singled out as the ones who were always ready.
Solskjaer also gave a peek at his daily life, the Norwegian has been focusing on himself and his family. He mentioned that his time away has been a positive change and even though he has had offers, the right one hasn’t come his way yet.
While Ole Gunnar rejuvenates, Erik ten Hag has found some degree at the helm of United. However, his second campaign has left a lot to be desired.
