Media Guru Phil Lynch to join Chelsea from Manchester United
Manchester United Media CEO Phil Lynch will join Chelsea after seven years at Old Trafford. Lynch, who managed the club’s output across their various social media channels, once made the news when he angered Gary Neville.
It was back in 2021 when Lynch spoke about controlling player narratives and influencing the supporters’ views on Manchester United players, which did not go down well with Gary who posted a “mini-rant” on Twitter.
Nevertheless, that was when Lynch became known across the football world. At Chelsea though, he shall take up the role of global head of digital for BlueCo, the US-based consortium that acquired Chelsea in 2022. That is as per The Express.
Having said that this is not a sporting decision and will not directly impact how Erik ten Hag decides to field his players or how academy players integrate into the first-team setup.
There was a a sense of doubt that Lynch is moving on due to the minority investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but Express also tells us that these two are parallel issues.
In fact, Sir Jim plans to have his own overhaul at the club, with former Newcastle Sporting Director Dan Ashworth at the core of changes introduced by INEOS. There are also talks of Zinedine Zidane potentially replacing Ten Hag, but the board intends to give the Dutchman more time before they arrive at a conclusion.
